Project:Ketchikan Shipyard Assembly Hall & Production Facility

Location: Ketchikan AK, AK
Date Completed:
SMC Contract:$6,000,000

Description:

The project consisted of constructing a new ship assembly hall and adjoining 5 story production centers at the Ketchikan Shipyard. This was a design assist project which allowed us to work side by side with the engineers during the design phase; this collaboration helped to reduce costs and streamline the installation process. One of the challenges presented by this project was working in the ceiling of the assembly hall which had a substantial amount of piping and duct work and was 120’ floor to ceiling. We reduced the amount of time spent working at 120’ by pre-fabricating the majority of the piping on the ground and hoisting it into the ceiling.
